Licensed Professional Counselor Associates are counselors who have completed their Master’s program and have completed a practicum and internship while they were in their Master’s program. They have obtained their degree and have passed the National Counselor’s Exam. LPC-Associates are in the process of obtaining 3,000 hours of clinical experience under the direct clinical supervision of an LPC Supervisor.

This is much like a doctor who is in residency and is working closely with a highly trained and experienced clinician. LPC Associates are required to attend a minimum of 4 hours of supervision each month where they receive individual support and case consultation from their supervisor. In addition, the LPC Supervisor reviews therapy process, notes, and cases in order to ensure that clients are receiving the highest level of care possible. Many LPC Associates have been working in the mental health field for many years accumulating a varied level of background education and experience.
